Professional Dog Training with Kelly Brown ABCDTPhilosophy - Mental stimulation combined with physical exercise can greatly benefit your role as a leader and improve the behaviour of ANY maladaptive dog. Rehabilitation of an inappropriate behaviour can only be achieved if you are CALM, assertive and clear with your training instructions. If there is one thing with the
rehabilitation process you must
learn, it is to be PATIENT. In most cases you will have to use repetition
and consistency until the dog understands you. Of course, sometimes a
behaviour CAN be corrected and reversed quite fast, but it will require you to follow-through with training every day. You mustn't get complacent and revert back to
your old habits,
or your dog will too! There is no quick fix with Rehabilitation. And there is no overnight solution. You need to send a clear and consistent message each and every time you communicate with your dog. And the more positive, calm and rewarding to the dog the more he will desire to please. Obedience training is an essential tool in assisting rehabilitation and building your self confidence and that of your dog. Getting involved in basic obedience training can also assist you when participating in Sports like Agility, Flyball and Dock Dogs - just some of many ways to have fun and strengthen your relationship with your canine. My Goal is to help create and restore peace and balance to you and your dog's state of mind.
I primarily specialise in behaviour modification. I also encourage OBEDIENCE TRAINING (in a controlled environment) as a tool to assist in rehabilitation. I can teach all the familiar voice commands, Hand signals/gestures (no speaking) and the more advanced skills of Clicker training. I use only positive reinforcement. I prefer not to use *food rewards in the Rehabilitation process. Low key praise and petting or using their favorite toy and play are excellent rewards, and at the rehabilitation stage these are great ways to build a bond between you and your dog. (Exception to the food reward rule is with OBEDIENCE AND PUPPY TRAINING until you have developed strong connection). *In the process of rehabilitation a food reward acts only as a bribe to change a behaviour and although that may work initially, in the long run the dog will learn to anticipate the treat and jump ahead to the next command before you give it. Which may sound great, but they are simply desiring the food and therefore not connecting with you.
I only use motivational techniques,
no harsh training methods. No unnecessary force or dog paraphernalia to assist
in training. Your dog must want to follow you naturally and willingly for my
rehabilitation to work. This is what I help you achieve. Learn to draw on the
methods you use and know that work already to get your dogs attention. I fully appreciate that training and rehabilitation has to fit into your increasingly busy lifestyle, so I offer realistic solutions for improving your dog’s behaviour. My job is to show you how to make all the necessary improvements to your dog’s behaviour with minimal disruption to your life.

Playing 'fetch' requires focus and can assist in training and rehabilitation
My philosophy is synonymous with that of the internationally renowned 'Dog Whisperer' Cesar Millan. Exercise being the primary objective with the rehabilitation. Once you understand how to communicate with your dog, the simplicity of this philosophy is apparent. ![]() Let me help you find that level of communication, and I guarantee
your relationship with your dog will change dramatically for the better! ![]()
